How likely are you to recommend Avesta Ketamine and Wellness?
What patients say on Google
“Life changing. Period. After suffering for years and years with depression and anxiety, I've been seeing Avesta in Bethesda for nearly 3 years. Ketamine therapy literally changed my life, and I haven't been on an anti-depressant drug for more than 2 years. And, the staff at Avesta has been amazing as well, with a special shout out to Sam and Christian. I can highly recommend, and I'll always be grateful that I found this company.”
“Avesta has made my ketamine infusion process anxiety free. Even before my first appointment, they were so helpful in explaining the process and working around my strict work schedule for my initial loading doses. Both the Bethesda and Tyson's location are welcoming and the staff works hard to make it feel like a safe space. Here is what happens during a normal infusion appointment: 1. After you check in, you are given your own private room with a comfortable recliner & blankets, and they offer other services on request, like eye masks and essential oils. They also have an armchair in the room if you choose to have someone stay with you during the infusion. 2. Initially, the staff comes in to take your blood pressure and heart rate. My anxiety was high my first few infusions, so they gave me magnesium during the infusion to alleviate those symptoms. 3. The NP will come in and chat with you before starting the IV. They will talk about dosage options, past treatment experiences, and any concerns you have. They always add zofran to the infusion, so I've never had any issues with nausea. The providers work collaboratively with you, so while they might suggest a certain dosage (and they will explain why), they will also take what you are comfortable with into account. I never felt that I didn't have control over my infusions, and the NPs have been incredible helpful in determining how far apart my appointments should be. 4. The NP will hook you up to the IV (some of the least painful IVs I've ever had!) and start the infusion. When the infusion starts, they turn off the lights, and if you choose to go without an eye mask, you'll have a soft colored mood light that makes the space even more comfortable. They also leave a button that will signal that you need help at any time. 5. During the infusion, the staff will check on you 1-2x and they will let you know as they wean you off of the infusion after about 40 minutes. 6. After the infusion is complete, the staff will take your IV out, and take your blood pressure and heart rate again. They will offer snacks or water and after, and if you have anyone with you, they will send them in. The NP will also come in to discuss your experience. Generally, we talk about how the dosage felt and if I had any symptoms during the treatment. 7. Most of the time you are given an unlimited amount of time to transition out of the space. I have only had to move quickly once or twice when the practice was busy and they needed the room. Otherwise, they recommend that you take the time you need. Some other things to note: - Avesta is generally a quiet atmosphere, but I recommend noise cancelling headphones for your session. Sometimes the medical equipment beeps, and it can take you out of your headspace. - Wear comfy clothes. I generally ditch my shoes and use a blanket during the infusion. The AC/heating units can be controlled in each room, so I have never been too cold or too warm. The recliners are adjustable, so you can stay sitting up or 100% reclined. - Tyson's has the most open schedule (they are open most Saturdays), but Bethesda has the biggest space, the closest bathroom, and windows in their infusion rooms. It also has a much larger waiting room, so anyone who comes with you has a comfortable place to wait. Bethesda is open on some Saturdays, so you have to plan in advance. - All of the staff has always shown me the utmost care and has been understanding of any anxieties or preferences during the process. Nate and Sam (NPs) in particular have been incredible in helping me through my infusions and deciding the ideal dosage for me.”
“Working with Avesta has been a genuinely positive experience (I mostly go to the Bethesda location but I've also been to Tysons). I've done a series of infusions over the past few months, and the care I've received has made all the difference. Sam, the nurse leading my treatment, is hilarious and incredibly patient—he offers much-needed reassurance and is communicative both during and outside of appointments. The whole nursing team takes their time with you and never makes you feel rushed. The front desk staff is warm and welcoming. And Naomi, the integration coach, truly cares about her clients. She's invested in your progress. I recently attended my first virtual integration circle, and that has been an added source of support. Talking with other patients who understand what you're going through has been helpful. Ketamine therapy is hard work, but Avesta has created a space where I feel safe and cared for. If you're considering this treatment, I'd recommend them.”
“Meghan was well informed, polite, answered all of my questions clearly and in the context of our conversation she provided information she discerned to be important to me.”
