“I had a strange 25lb weight gain in summer of 2025. My health was deteriorating and I couldn’t get answers. My local urgent care diagnosed me with bronchitis. Took steroids and antibiotics; finished the doses and didn’t feel better. Got sick again and another antibiotic. Started sleeping horribly, then having anxiety and trying to sleep. Went to another provider, and they pricked my finger and looked at my blood under a microscope. I was then told I had Coronavirus and Epstein-Barr virus, and that my liver function was only about 40%. When I mentioned the weight gain, she looked me up and down, and moved onto the next subject. I had explained pain in my joints, feeling weak, and it was written off. I went to two more providers before I started to lose all hope. Finally, a friend from Pilates suggested I come to Mountain River Health. Finally, Brian Johnson listened to my symptoms and concerns. I had brought labs from a previous provider, and Brian ordered a few more labs and I finally had answers. Insulin Resistance- hence the weight gain. I never stopped working out, lifting, practicing yoga and Pilates, and that weight wouldn’t budge. Now I had answers, IR, and some low hormones and a Thyroid imbalance. I’m now on small doses of HRT and my sleep returned. My energy levels were back in the most positive way. And I was able to lose the weight.
