How likely are you to recommend Desert Sage Behavioral Health?
“I wanted to give this facility five stars and initially that's what I would have given but now that I have some other place to compare it to the 3 stars is warranted. The good things about Desert Sage are that I like the animals here, I'm a fish enthusiast so that's right up my alley. I also have parakeets so I appreciate that also. I can however see how some people would be annoyed by loud squawking birds. The front desk has one young gentleman that is efficient however anyone else at the front desk is lacking. Janiece was my intake clinician and she's awesome. The individual rooms that you are led to for Spravato treatment are quite dirty though. There's hair all over and stuck to the foam pieces that are meant for sound proofing. The protocol for Spravato treatment is three checks on your blood pressure and O2 levels however they didn't do the half way point. The biggest thing that upset me is that Dan the owner was never on time for my appointments. This in itself caused anxiety and this is no way the right frame of mind to begin treatment.. This is in no way a reflection on Dan as a person because he seems nice but not adhering to a set time for an appointment doesn't show that he values my time. I had to drive an hour to get to my appointment and I had a set time to be back to pick up my young daughter. If he is half an hour late and you have to stay there 2 hours for treatment it meant that I had to call someone to pick her up from school. There is definitely room for improvement here.”
“The animals are awesome, but I think there is something off about this place. If you go in for a consult and feel something is off, trust your gut. I received Spravato treatment here and the office was incredibly disorganized from the start. It was like none of the people there actually communicated with each other. As another patient mentioned, the treatment rooms are dirty. The room I was in during my final session had half of the foam sound proofing squares ripped off the wall, it was creepy. The tech who was supposed to take my vitals forgot me almost every single time. Finally, they abruptly stopped my treatment because they were court ordered to stop seeing AHCCCS patients. They gave me no resources or assistance in coming up with a plan for me to move forward. Stopping a treatment like this mid-treatment put me in a really vulnerable place, and I think could be dangerous for individuals who are even more vulnerable. I would be surprised if this place is able to keep their license longterm unless they really pull it together.. Half of their staff seem to be getting paid for doing nothing and have no idea what they are doing.”
“I have never in my life been treated like a person at any health care facility, you are usually just another appointment they try to get through as fast as they can with as little eye contact as possible. Desert Sage is different, and AWESOME - Dr Daniel is incredibly personable, understanding, kind, and truly interested in how you feel and what is going on in your life, which is really a priceless and unique scenario when it comes to mental health care doctors. I am so thankful for him. And the animals he has there, I just adore them all. I feel so very lucky to be a patient at Desert Sage. Thank you so much!!”
“I highly recommend Desert Sage Behavioral Health. Daniel, the nurse practitioner, is kind, an exceptional listener, and a highly skilled provider who ensures you feel genuinely heard and supported. The practice offers hours beyond the traditional 8–5 workday, which significantly reduces stress—I no longer have to contend with traffic or miss work, and I can attend evening or weekend appointments with ease. They also provide advanced treatment options such as TMS, ketamine, and Spravato, which can be effective when traditional antidepressants have not been successful. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It is generally well tolerated, with minimal to no side effects for most patients, and is often covered by insurance. Although these therapies have existed for some time, most psychiatric providers have limited experience with them. For those seeking a clinician who approaches care with depth, flexibility, and a comprehensive understanding of available treatments, Desert Sage Behavioral Health is an exceptional choice.”
