“I first discovered Derive through social media when I learned they were opening a location in Pinehurst, NC. At the time, I was researching ketamine therapy as part of a much bigger effort to heal from severe CPTSD, as a military veteran, a survivor of post-separation abuse, and someone who has spent more than five years navigating family court. Panic attacks and trauma had begun controlling parts of my life, and I was looking for intensive therapy and meaningful integration work that could help me actually heal, not just cope. From the minute I walked through the doors at Derive, I was met with compassion, kindness, and a softness that is difficult to put into words. Every step of the process was explained to me. I never felt rushed, dismissed, or like just another patient. They held space for me in a way that made me feel genuinely safe and cared for. The environment itself reflects that same intention. The office is beautiful, clean, comfortable, calming, and almost spa-like. It does not have the cold, clinical feeling you might expect from a medical facility. From the incredibly comfortable chair used during ketamine sessions to the IV therapies, NAD+, and other wellness services they offer, everything feels thoughtfully designed around the person receiving care. And the ketamine experience itself was exceptional. Derive went above and beyond by having a therapist present with me during my sessions, which was incredibly important to my experience. The music, headphones, eye mask, physical environment, preparation, support, and integration, every detail felt intentional. I never felt like I was simply being given a medication and left to figure out the experience on my own. Ketamine therapy changed my life. It helped me reach and heal parts of myself that I genuinely did not know I could access. My life is better because of the work I have done here. I also think it is important for people to understand that you do not necessarily have to have significant trauma to be curious about ketamine-assisted therapy or the personal insight and discovery that can come from the experience. If you are considering ketamine, ask questions, educate yourself, and find a provider where you feel safe and supported. Not all ketamine facilities are the same, and the therapeutic environment and people surrounding you matter tremendously. I cannot say enough good things about Derive. I recommend them every time ketamine comes up in conversation, and I will happily remain a patient here for as long as they’ll have me.
