What patients say on Google
“Despite being a writer, I feel hesitation as I pen this review because I don't know that words can adequately capture the magic taking place at Boston Mindcare. I am someone who "has it all" by modern metrics: the family, the career, resources—many blessings. However, I have, for 37 years, been unsuccessful at taming my mental health issues, resulting in chronic, heavy depression weighing me down as I face each and every day. And not getting better wasn't for lack of trying; I've pretty much done it all. I settled on SSRIs, which helped somewhat; talk therapy did initially too, but seemingly nothing could truly reach the iron-clad, dark shroud that cloaked my psyche. Life, for me, has always presented as varying shades of grey, and becoming a mother forced me to face that notion and ratchet up my attempts at getting better. Noticing that I was becoming treatment-resistant, my functional MD and therapist both had recommended trying "alternative" therapies like ketamine at different points, so I finally decided to give it a shot. (It's a bit funny in hindsight that ketamine therapy is still considered 'alternative' when it should, in fact, be the mainstream.) At first, I felt ridiculous (or was that the depression?), inquiring a ketamine clinic as a highly-educated business owner and suburban mother of 2 who had never touched substances—surely ketamine wasn't for *me.* But then, I met Dr. Yee, and my anxiety about the whole thing began to subside. Just after I had inquired on the Boston Mindcare website, he spent a half hour on the phone discussing the treatment with me—a stranger—as if I was the most important person on the planet. On his day off. I proceeded with the process because I started to feel more comfortable; after all, Dr. Yee is an anesthesiologist, so if I were to put my life in anyone's hands, why not his? As I began my infusions, I grew awestruck at his specific way of practicing medicine. A truly elite doctor, a healer, he makes you feel comfortable, safe, and as if your treatment is the single most important thing. I see now why some patients travel great distances to have their infusions here: so much of the experience is because of *him.* Today marks my 7th infusion, and I look back on this past month as the most transformative of my entire life. My infusion appointments grew increasingly more effective as Dr. Yee tweaked my dosing and side-effect management to perfection. To say that this man is an angel on Earth is an understatement. On a more pragmatic level...the front-desk staff is so incredibly kind, and the whole building is comforting. Yes, the treatment is costly, but so is remaining in a depressed hole for more years of your life—remember that! The infusions themselves are otherworldly and initially a bit weird, but being in a good environment helped a lot. I am of the high-anxiety, OCD, control-freak type nature, so I was initially nervous how I would feel ("am I going to lose it?"). But that wasn't what happened. Instead, my experiences were mostly pleasant and seemed to wiggle loose deep-seated traumas, insecurities, and stuck-points that I didn't even know were affecting me. Ketamine allows you to tap into your subconscious, begin to truly realize what you need to realize, and move past what is holding you back. If you feel like you're spinning your wheels with talk therapy, this might be for you. It might all sound hokey (I would have rolled my eyes right about now if I were reading this pre-treament), but part of this journey is learning to let go and to surrender to the healing. I hope my children grow up in a world where such healing is normalized and ketamine treatments are made available to all who are suffering. To conclude, I will leave you with the final line of a poem that hangs on the wall of Dr. Yee's treatment room, dedicated to him by a former patient: "blessed be the lost and broken souls...for beneath the shelter of angels' wings they may learn to rise up and take flight. Together, theirs is a magnificent destiny."”
“Dr. Yee is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met! He cares so much about his clients and really makes sure that you are comfortable and cared for throughout your appointment. It can be daunting to try ketamine, especially if you have never really done many substances like myself, and Dr. Yee and the nurses make the experience feel safe, trauma-informed, and calm. I think they will be uploading new office photos soon (some of their Google pics are from their old location), but know that the office is so cozy and clean. Feels like you’re at a spa almost! I highly recommend treatment with Dr. Yee vs other providers in the area. I reached out to various clinics, but no other provider could offer the care, experience, and attention that Dr. Yee does. He always goes the extra mile. Even though I live in Boston, the drive is absolutely worth it. By the way, he is also a songwriter and poet, which I find to be very cool in a doctor! The location is great and if you’re up for it there are some great local restaurants on the same street for after treatment. Can’t recommend Boston MindCare enough! So thankful to the Boston MindCare team for the amazing treatment!”
“Dr. Yee and his staff are simply amazing! The staff was always attentive, compassionate and professional. Dr. Yee immediately put me at ease with his knowledge, expertise and professionalism. He took the time to really understand where i was in my pain journey and was able to create an amazingly effective treatment plan. He even made himself available for an extensive call post treatment to go over how i was doing. Thanks again Dr. Yee!”
“Chronic Pain / CRPS / Central Pain: Dr. Yee & The Boston Mindcare team have been more than supportive every step of the way. The care was life-changing! Notably, Dr. Yee’s concern for my family was demonstrated throughout my care. Many doctors avoided my complex well-documented case. Yet, Dr. Yee did not shy away as others had. I could no longer use my eyes due to central pain. Today, I am able to see. I know, I will not be left in horrific pain. Dr. Yee and his team will be there if I call. Years of working in healthcare taught me such attention to detail & compassion are rare. I could never say enough to thank Dr. Yee & The Boston Mindcare Team.”
