About MindWell

At MindWell, we offer ketamine therapy treatments for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain. Ketamine is an anesthetic that has been used in operating rooms and clinical settings for decades, with a very low risk of side effects compared to traditional anesthetics.

In recent years, research has shown that low-dose ketamine is incredibly effective as an antidepressant and can also combat the symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, chronic pain, and more. Ketamine was approved in 1970, but it wasn't until 2000 that it was shown to be incredibly effective as an antidepressant when administered at low doses. Research has now shown its benefits for PTSD, anxiety, pain, and more.

Unlike traditional antidepressants, which can take up to six to eight weeks to begin bringing relief, ketamine can rapidly improve depressive symptoms within a few hours of administration, and this relief can be sustained for up to two weeks or more following just a single dose, even in individuals who have tried traditional therapy without relief.

Ketamine triggers neuroplasticity (a state when your brain can more easily learn, change, and adapt), allowing the brain to make new connections and disconnect from old patterns of thinking, which contribute to mental health symptoms. This creates a temporary window for establishing new habits, thought patterns, and perceptions.

Our office is conveniently located near the cities of Greenville, Anderson, and Mauldin, making it easy for patients from all over the Upstate to access our services. We are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care in a comfortable and supportive environment.

What to expect at MindWell

Intake: We consult with people who connect with us or are referred by their health care provider to make sure that they are a good fit for ketamine therapy. We ask them to fill out a short intake form.

Base: For those who wish to move forward, we will schedule you for a visit at our first available time. We then administer a base treatment of 6, 40-minute ketamine infusions over two weeks, based on recommended practice.

Growth: With the 80% or more of our patients who get relief of their symptoms, we closely monitor each patient's progress to determine the best timeline for booster therapy, as depressive symptoms can gradually return typically somewhere between 2-8 weeks.

Maintenance: We work closely with each individual and their care team to track improvement and create a long-term care plan.

On the day of your infusion, you will arrive at our office and sign paperwork. You will then meet with Dr. Motley to discuss your treatment plan. You will be placed in a private room where an intravenous (IV) line will be started if you are receiving an infusion. If you are receiving intranasal Spravato, an IV line is not needed.

You will then rest in a comfortable chair in one of our spa-like rooms. Monitors will be placed to track your blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate. Your treatment will then begin.

You should feel the effects of ketamine working quickly. You will not lose consciousness and should feel relaxed, as the dose of medication is well under the dose used in operating rooms. Some patients may experience a dissociative effect and partially lose awareness of their body. Many will find this out-of-body experience to be bizarre, but pleasurable. The rate of the ketamine infusion may be adjusted per patient to minimize any adverse symptoms. Typically, the dissociative sensations resolve quickly after the infusion is completed.

You must stay at the facility for 30 minutes after completion of your infusion. You will need a driver to take you home, as you are not allowed to drive the remainder of the day of your infusion.

It's important to remember that relief will be different for every patient and may take several hours or even several days to appear. Relief can be subtle and is often noticed by family members prior to yourself, as improvement in function often comes before improvement in mood. There can be a spectrum of results, however ketamine therapy has provided overwhelmingly positive outcomes.

If you are interested in learning more about how ketamine therapy can help you, please contact us today to schedule a consultation. We look forward to helping you on your journey to better mental health.

“This is a highly dynamic and integrative group!!! I highly recommend to anyone going through life transition or any kind of health or mental emotional "challenge". This place empowers vs makes people complacent about their health and wellness. I had a profound experience with IV ketamine and happy to talk more with anyone interested in that... “My 1st appointment, heads up, DO YOUR PAPERWORK because I drove 2 hours just to do that! But... The staff greeted me & made me feel welcomed. I met Mrs Bri & She made it easy for me as I told her little bit about my situations & circumstances. THIS IS THE HARDEST, MOST CHALLENGING TIME IN MY LIFE!!! Right now, lifes ups & downs has placed me in a fox hole literally fighting as I tread water to stay afloat. I let her know I needed help. I told her that I need to address these matters asap & that its imperative because i need to help my family / others. Plus, life doesnt stop & ive got to get my life back on track. Almost Every part of my life at / in this moment is being challenged so I need someone to help me through this season im in.She was attentive the entire time. Telling someone your shortcomings, flaws, weaknesses ... Isn't easy. But, Transparency is required & that takes vulnerability & honesty. As i did that, she helped me be comfortable the entire time. REGUARDLESS how "screwed up" or lost one may think they may be, there is always hope. I told her MY ONLY HOPE & I let her know about my FAITH in JESUS.HE is my HOPE! Having someone that is willing to help you in these days is a blessing. Im glad I went to mindwell. Im greatful I can tell Mrs Bri about my life & have someone who actually cares. That makes you feel tangible evidence that you matter & that everyone deserves a helping hand ; Or in my case Hands. Im endeavoring to reach my fullest potential! Never give up!”

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Law for almost 2 years at least and she is the best of the best! She always puts my opinion, wellbeing, and health first before giving me solutions. The staff is also very sweet and welcoming! Not to mention their waiting area is just so aesthetically calming and comfortable!”
